After so much time together in the build up to Christmas, it was weird to then spend the holiday apart. Draco went to the Manor on Christmas Eve and Harry went to the Burrow. They discussed alternatives, but Draco refused to push George's acceptance of him at the holidays, and Harry wasn't quite sure he was ready to have a civil meal with Lucius, Christmas spirit or not.
So they went to their own families, and Harry did his best to enjoy the ones he was with and not focus on the one person missing. He watched the Weasley children and Teddy open their presents and eat their weight in chocolate. When Teddy gave him the heart-shaped ornament he had sewn all by himself, Harry fought back a sob and pulled his godson into a tight hug.
Harry held baby Rose and marvelled at how tiny and perfect she was. He could hardly believe that Teddy had once been so small, and yet he remembered the first time he had held him. Harry ate tons of Mrs Weasley's cooking until he could do little more than lie on the floor and groan. He would have preferred a couch, but Ron and Charlie had beat him to that prime real estate. And he hugged his friends tightly when it was time to part ways at the end of the night.
His cottage was too quiet when he Flooed home. It was always quieter than the Burrow, but he had grown used to the little sounds Draco made with the clink of a glass or the turn of a page. Harry put on the wireless and went about getting ready for bed. He was finishing brushing his teeth when he heard the Floo chime.
He knew who he hoped it was, but pushed the thought from his head until he saw Draco's face in the flames. Harry dropped to his knees in front of the Floo. “I'd hoped you'd call. Happy Christmas.”
Draco gave him a gentle smile. “Can I come over?”
Harry nodded and then moved aside to let Draco through. Draco stepped out of the fireplace and immediately flopped onto the couch. “Ugh! I'm so glad that is over. My father is such a booore.” Harry wisely remained silent. “Please don't make me go back, Harry. I can't bear to spend Boxing Day with him bemoaning the family reputation and trying to match me up with well-connected witches I have no intention of ever marrying. A rush of anger went through Harry at that. Draco must have seen it in his face because he got up to hug and kiss him. “Silly, Potter. My father has no say in who I date.”
Despite the comforting words, Harry wrapped his arms around Draco's waist and held him tightly. Draco murmured something about “jealous” and “adorable,” but Harry ignored it in favour of burying his face in Draco's neck.
“You are welcome to spend Boxing Day here.” He slid his hands farther down Draco's back and cupped his bum. “We can spend the whole day in bed. We can alternate sleeping and shagging and order food by owl.”
Draco pinched his bum in retaliation. “That sounds like an excellent way to enjoy the holiday.”

Lovely story. I liked the part...but he had grown used to the little sounds Draco made with the clink of a glass or the turn of a page.
