Having shown Draco his appreciation for the trip to the Burrow—and taken care of himself—Harry settled next to Draco on the couch with a bottle of wine and two glasses. He flicked an Incendio at the fireplace and kicked off his shoes and socks. Draco followed his lead and also made himself comfortable and cosy with his bare feet stretched across the footstool toward the heat of the flames.
In that moment, feeling Draco's heat against his side and hearing his little sigh of relaxation, Harry knew he needed to know where things stood between them.
“This isn't just for the holidays, is it?”
Beside him, Draco's mouth slid into an evil smirk. This man would be the death of him.
“There are a lot of holidays,” Draco said casually, his eyes never leaving the fire. “New Year's is coming, and then the Spanish celebrate Three Kings Day. I was there for it once as a child. Very fun.” He stopped to take a drink of wine. “Burns night is a good excuse for whiskey, and the Lunar New Year is the next night.” He finally looked at Harry, showing the mischief dancing in his eyes. “You have to try a moon cake.” His smile was softer as he turned back to the fire and rested his hand on Harry's. “Valentine's day is obviously much more fun with a boyfriend. Mardi Gras is big in many countries, or we can just be English and eat our pancakes. Then there's St Patrick's Day, which the Americans have made rather raucous indeed. And that only gets us through the winter.”
Harry squeezed Draco's hand in his. “That is a lot of holidays. And that's not even counting birthday parties and bank holidays.” Draco nodded with feigned solemnity. “I guess we had best just stay together year round.”
Draco squeezed his hand back. “Yes, that does seem best.”
Then they just sat with the crackling of the fire as the only sound.
