Ha ha ha! It sounds a lot better than Harius (hairy arse, what?), so I say go for it.

In my head, Sirius was gay and had it bad for James. I totally see him fancying Harry as James II, but I imagine it ending poorly. I think Harry would grow out of Sirius (who is still very much a teenager in many ways) or realise that Sirius is subconsciously using him as a way of having James. Just my personal Draco/Harry mindset's defences, I think.

I can't see Tom and Rupert as a couple because Tom is so obviously straight, but I do love seeing Tom and Dan and Tom and Rupert hanging about together.

I agree about Tom being straight. I think they both are. But they are just so cute with their shirts and fake flirting. I love any film or show where the cast seem to genuinely like each other and enjoy working together.

Dan doesn't do it for me. It makes me so sad, because Harry is totally my type. It's just that I really don't see Dan as Harry. I don't see Tom as Draco, either, but I happen to think they're both hot. But Dan . . . he's nice looking. I like him on QI and shows like that. I just don't see him as the slender, black haired, green-eyed Harry.

Dan has never been my head!canon Harry (very similar to yours: slender, black haired, green-eyed). Not that he is unattractive or a bad actor (though not my favorite in the series), but he just doesn't quite work for me.

Exactly! I wish Dan all the best and can understand people fancying him. It's just that he's so far from my idea of Harry (who is closer to the new Q in Skyfall).

That said, the majority of the HP actors don't match the book description of their characters perfectly, so I find myself having to view the films a slightly AU fanwork.

I definitely had a crush when I was younger on Dan. I slept with a piece of my paper under my pillow with this image -

- surrounded by little hearts in which I put "my name + Dan"(because obviously I should have played Hermione. Duh.). Now I'm more a Tom Felton type of girl...

AND OH MY GOD YOU HAVE ROCKED MY WORLD. Ben Whishaw is perfect (see image below! and the eyes!) and he was even born in 1980! (Oct 14 but what can you do right?) Still not exactly my head!canon but pretty damn close.

I must say your idea of looking at the films as slightly AU fanwork is intriguing. I'm always the one grumbling about details in the films ("No, he doesn't say that" "So-and-so would never do that") but if I sit back and look at them as just movies slightly associated with the books it's ok. (Side note: my favorite is #3 because Alfonso Cuarón really brought his own beautiful vision to the film and my least favorites are #'s 4/5. Which ones do you prefer?)

I'm enough older than Dan, Tom, and Ron that I didn't really think of them in terms of attraction until the films were over. I guess it was because, even when they were in their twenties, they were still portraying teens. Of course, now that their clearly men, it's fair game. ;) Although of the three actors, Tom is the only one I personally find attractive.

It really is the eyes with Ben Whishaw. And his build matches my Harry as well. Of course it helps that as Q he has the glasses and wild hair combination. *happy sigh* I hadn't realised he was almost exactly Harry's age!

I definitely grumble through the films, too. Some of it can't be helped (like actors not looking quite right), but the changes to the book plots always irk me. And couldn't they have just hired a new Crabbe rather than killing off Goyle? Way to mess up canon!

I loved #3 visually, but I spent most of the film griping that Remus and Sirius didn't work for me. Again, great actors, but not how I imagine the characters.

#4 was disappointing in that I loved their casting for Rita, but then they didn't make use of her! I know it's a huge book to adapt to a film, but I have to think there was a better way to do it.

I loved their Umbridge, so that was a saving grace for #5. The later films I've only seen once, so it's harder for me to remember everything I liked and didn't.

Exactly. The characters' looks are forgivable...to an extent. JUST PUT DAN IN CONTACTS. Uggh. That has bothered me since #1.

Yeah, Remus/Sirius did not work for me either. David Thewlis in Total Eclipse? Fantastic. Gary Oldman in Batman? Amazing. Not in Harry Potter. And it doesn't help that half of the actor's roles feel like cameos. There are SO MANY characters in the HP world that it is impossible to go into depth for any one of them.

Rita/Umbridge were perfect characterizations and definitely could have been better utilized. But it all goes back to film length. If they did a mini-series or series...

In regards to actors vs characters I totally agree with the other comments about Dan not being like Harry. In my head he's not at all like Harry which upset me a bit when I first watched the HP films (in the first I was like 'omg, is acting really that hard?' haha) but I've learnt to live with it!

And Tom Felton is a sexy beast ♥ Who is ridiculously straight but so cute with all his cuddling/play-acting with pretty much everyone in the cast haha.

The flirting b/t Tom and Rupert is my favourite, not because I think it's real, just because they are so cute about it. I feel like lots of actors might make a brief joke, but then would want to clarify that they're actually straight. It seems like those two really don't give a shite whether people take it seriously or not. And they always look like they are having so much fun.
