“Hey, Harry!” Ron greeted him with a big smile and a slap on the shoulder. Harry hugged Hermione before noticing that Ron was frowning and looking around. “Where's Draco? To hear Seamus tell it, you two were hit with a Permanent Sticking Charm.” Harry resisted the urge to roll his eyes as Ron laughed at him. “No really, where is he?”
“We're meeting here.” He bit down on the urge to say more on the topic and instead asked after Rose. Both parents were easily distracted to gush about their new baby, although they mentioned repeatedly how nice it was to have a night off.
Every time someone new arrived, Harry looked around for Draco. It wasn't that he wasn't happy to see his friends. He was! It was great to have a conversation with Ginny when she wasn't rushing out the door to practice and to catch up with Neville. But the usual problem remained. Ron was with Hermione, his arm wrapped protectively around her shoulder. And Neville and Ginny would share soft smiles between stories. Even Luna was walking amongst her guests holding hands with Rolf. The whole point of this stupid thing with Draco was for Harry to not be the only single person at the party.
Harry excused himself from Susan Bones and her girlfriend with the excuse of getting a beer, but he really just wanted to be alone. Somehow that felt less lonely than watching Susan's girlfriend carefully tuck the tag of Susan's shirt in without interrupting Susan's story.
“Hey.”
Harry whipped around at the familiar voice. Standing behind him was Draco, looking completely exhausted. All of Harry's annoyance evaporated at the sight of the tension in Draco's shoulders and the hint of shadow under his eyes. “Hey,” he echoed. “How are you? Can I get you a drink?”
Draco gave him a tired smile and shook his head. “I'd rather just steal a bit of yours. If I have my own, it'll put me to sleep.” Harry handed over his beer and watched as Draco took a long pull and sighed. “I needed that.” He leaned into Harry so their shoulders were pressed together. “Sorry I'm late.”
Harry felt his smile take over his face. “No problem,” he mumbled. He wrapped his arm around Draco and felt him relax further against Harry's side. “Were you saving the world?” he teased, hoping to get answers without admitting to prying.
“Not the world. Even you didn't do that. Just Westminster.” He burrowed his face into Harry's neck, his breath hot and his nose cold. “Bill helped.”
There was certainly a very good story there, but Harry had a feeling it would have to wait. Draco was barely up for standing, let alone telling a Curse-breaking story with all the proper embellishment. “Do you want to go home?”
“Want to see you,” Draco murmured against his neck.
Harry's chest was full and warm. “Want to go back to mine, then?” He had seen most of the friends he wanted to, and Ron and Hermione had already left to get back to Rose. When he felt Draco nod against him, he wrapped his arms around him and Apparated them back to his house. He led Draco to his bedroom where they both stripped and got into bed.
“'m too tired to shag.” Draco sounded half asleep already, and far too close to apologetic.
“We can shag in the morning.” Harry ran his hand across Draco's belly, resisting the urge to grope lower. “Right now, I'm just glad you're here.”
Draco feel asleep with a smile on his face, and Harry followed soon after.
