Where does the time go?

It's mid-January and I still have so much Christmas reading I want to do!  It's a pretty great kind of hardship to have, but it still frustrates me when I get so little reading time.

Are other people caught up?  When do you read?  And where?  I rarely read outside of the house, and usually only once my kids are in bed.  Maybe I need to find time in other parts of the day.

I know it's hard to catch up with the tsunami of stories during the holidays. :P

I read a couple of stories when checking my mail. During the day I read some of them on my phone.

Hope the new year will bring you all the good things. :D

I read on my phone in 5 min bursts. While cooking eggs for breakfast and the kids are watching Muppets on the laptop. Or when they are focused on playing by themselves or together and only want me for fetch and carry. During timeouts. Naps.

Then taking advantage of the childcare at the gym... I call the exercise bikes my reading time. That and my insomnia means I usually wake an hour before anyone else.

I don't keep up. I don't get the opportunity to just... Sit down and read a fic. But a couple paragraphs at a time here and there throughout the day adds up.

I am more or less caught up. I read, well, when I'm on line I try not to get too distracted, but I also read in bed, too, from my ipad. I download from AO3 or just open the story if it's at lj or wherever and read read read.

What helps me though is that I have a ~system. I try not to be left behind. Like, I try to keep the 'leaving it for later' to a minimum (unless it's long fic which I almost always read off line), but when it's something shorter (anything less than 15-20K) I try to read it then. ^^

I can never be up to date. I'm always behind and when I try to keep up all the other things I want to do with my time gets neglected. There is simply not enough time in a day.
