Harry spent the rest of the afternoon trying to come up with an excuse to see Draco that night. He knew they were both invited to a party at Luna's the next night, and he planned to use that as a chance to convince Draco to join him at the Burrow for Sunday lunch. But despite the promise of Saturday and the hope of Sunday, Harry couldn't shake off the disappointment of a Friday night alone after such a good time the night before.

His solution came via memo from Sports and Games.

Harry-

Pansy and I are one short for our dinner tonight. Help out an old friend and join us.

Seamus

Harry was willing to bet the extra one was Draco and that Pansy had orchestrated this sudden “problem.” He remembered that Draco was having lunch with her and Daphne today, and Seamus wasn't usually one to care about uneven numbers at a dinner party. He wasn't one to throw dinner parties at all. If it were up to Seamus, they'd all be down at the Leaky washing down greasy chips with a pint or four. No, this was all Pansy.

But if the result was dinner with Draco, Harry was willing to play along. He sent a memo back asking when to arrive.

*

Pansy never did anything before seven, so Harry had time to shower and change before Apparating to the Parkinson estate. He knew Pansy all but lived in Seamus' London flat, but her family home allowed her to entertain the way she liked.

“Harry!” Pansy herself greeted him at the door in a red dress that clung to her like a second skin and with a smile like a shark's. “So glad you could make it. Dear Astoria had to bow out at the last moment, and we were desperate for an eighth. You really are a saviour.”

He forced himself to smile as he offered the bottle of wine he'd brought. It was from his special reserve of wine to give judgmental people, and based on the lift of Pansy's eyebrow, it was better than she expected from him. Harry might not be an expert on wine, but he knew where to find one and how to stock up for the future.

A loud popped behind him announced the arrival of more guests. Harry hoped to see Draco, but it was Theo and his girlfriend. She was Scandanavian. Lynn? Linda? He never remembered, although she seemed very nice the few times they'd met.

Pansy greeted them both and sent them inside. Harry was about to step around Pansy and follow when he saw the couple stop and look up to the ceiling. There on the archway that separated the entry way from the main hall was a sprig of mistletoe. Harry was reminded of Voldemort's cave and the required letting of blood to seek entrance. It figured Pansy would demand something from their guests before they were even offered a drink.

He turned back to his hostess and saw her searching his face. Was she judging his reaction? Was this all to see whether he would kiss Draco? She really needn't have gone to such lengths. He'd have happily snogged Draco anywhere. As if beckoned by thought, Draco Apparated onto the walkway behind them. Harry gave him a wide smile as much for Pansy's benefit as Draco's. Perhaps Harry wasn't the only one with protective friends would worried about the feelings involved in this little arrangement.

Draco appeared surprised at Harry's presence. “What? Did you free Astoria from an evening of torture?” Pansy scowled at him, but he ignored her, turning to Harry with a warm smile. “I'm sorry you were roped into this, but I'm pleased I'll have good company. Astoria and I usually slip off and get drunk together, but it's damn awkward when the mistletoe pops up. Lucky bitch, getting to hole up with her girlfriend tonight and skip whatever bore Daphne is dating this year.

“Draco!” Pansy looked properly outraged, but it still didn't seem to bother Draco. “Hector is not a bore!”

The look on Draco's face made it clear he didn't believe her, but he stayed silent and she seemed to accept that was the best she would get. “Take your date in and get him a drink.” She turned her gaze on Harry. “Don't let him drink too much, and keep him away from Hector.”

They moved past her and into the house. It wasn't quite as large or grand as Malfoy Manor, but it still struck Harry as a ridiculous place for a single family to live. He looked up to where the mistletoe hung and saw it slowly descend as they neared it. Once they were directly below it, they paused. Harry knew it wouldn't let them by without a kiss, and he met Draco's eye with a leer. “Hopefully this won't be, 'damn awkward',” he teased.

Draco's eyes were dark and intense. Harry could get very used to those eyes looking at him like that. “No, I don't think it will be.” Then he pressed forward against Harry, finding Harry's lips with his own.

Harry didn't hold back, opening his mouth to Draco's tongue and grabbing Draco's hips to pull him closer. Draco felt divine, warm and solid against him. Draco's hands slid across his shoulders and down his back, slipping lower and—

“Get a drink, dammit!” Pansy's words brought Harry's attention back to his surroundings. Pansy's cheeks were flushed and she was looking rather cross. “The mistletoe is gone, so put your dicks away and go be decent guests.

Harry glanced down to ensure that his dick was indeed still in his trousers. The fabric might be tented a bit, but that would go away soon enough if he just kept a little distance from Draco and thought about the last crime scene he'd visited. Perhaps a drink was a good idea.

I love your Pansy. I was hoping to see more of her when you briefly mentioned her and Seamus arguing at Bill’s party, because I generally like her whenever she appears in a fic, whether as a supporting or main character.

Harry is so far gone if a night apart is one too many!

You really are a saviour, “Take your date in and get him a drink.” She turned her gaze on Harry. “Don't let him drink too much, and keep him away from Hector.” and “Get a drink, dammit!” Pansy's words brought Harry's attention back to his surroundings. Pansy's cheeks were flushed and she was looking rather cross. “The mistletoe is gone, so put your dicks away and go be decent guests. are my favourite lines. I do love me a sharp-tongued and bossy Pansy. I hope we see more of your Pansy!

It was also amusing how Harry sees her as ‘judgemental’ and compares her to Voldemort when he sees the mistletoe :D
